Hao

Hao

Hao and his wife live in a small house in an alley, not far from the historic centre of Hoi An, Vietnam.

He enjoyed early morning coffees with his friends and when he was at home he made Bánh ít trần, a small Vietnamese snack. Sticky balls containing rice dough and coconut or bean paste. He did the hard work and his wife rolled them.

Hao was often joking, breaking the moment with sudden, unexpected movements and gestures.

A year after taking this shot he told me during the war he was in prison for seven years, just because he supported South Vietnam.

Live long and prosper.
